UNF Swoop Troupe Theatre Co. Brings Rodgers and Hammerstein Classic to UNF
The University of North Florida’s Swoop Troupe Theatre Co. is proud to bring their production of The Sound of Music to UNF. The Sound of Music will open on January 24 at 7 p.m. at the UNF Andrew A. Robinson Theater. Two more shows will follow on January 25 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the UNF Andrew A. Robinson Theater. The 2 p.m. matinee on January 25 is a special Military Family and Friends show, where Military personnel are invited to come in or out of uniform and enjoy the show with their friends and family. After the show, they will be recognized for their service to the country.
This production will be Swoop Troupe Theatre Co's, formerly the UNF Musical Theatre Club, third musical at the university. After producing Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 in 2018, the group has been working to put on steadily growing musicals ever since. Their last production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into The Woods had three full houses in a theater that seats 700. The Sound of Music will be their first show since rebranding from the UNF Musical Theatre Club to the Swoop Troupe Theatre Co. The show is free and open to all members of UNF and the larger Jacksonville community. However, donations are appreciated.
